Five-time Olympian racing in the American Gold Cup

Date

Five-time Olympian and two-time Olympic silver medalist Anne Kursinski is going for the gold again, but this time it’s the American Gold Cup.

From September 10-14, Kursinski, a Finish Line® sponsor since 2003, will saddle up to compete in show jumping in Old Salem Farm. The grounds are located just outside of New York City among traditional equestrian estates in West Chester County, New York, where some of the world’s finest equestrian athletes businesses are situated.

The event will deliver world-class horse riding competition amid gorgeous scenery. There will be show jumping, family fun and boutique shopping. Attendees can shop until they drop with a range of vendors, from custom portraits of horses and dogs to fine art photography to custom French saddles. Equine lovers might also enjoy the equestrian apparel while foodies indulge in the farmers market and ice cream scoops.

Kursinski will be competing with the best of the best throughout the weekend, looking to advance to the World Cup. The winner will take home more than $400,000 in prize money. The California native is one of the leading female riders in the sport.

Old Salem Farm has a renowned legacy. It hosted Olympic selection trials, and after the move to Salem in 2012, the Gold Cup launched to the top of the 2013 North American Rider’s Group Top 25 Horse Shows, solidifying the No. 1 spot in the U.S. In recent years, more than $30 million of improvements have been made to the 120-acre property, but competitors and onlookers alike agree that the most extraordinary feature is the historic, pristine grass Grand Prix field.

In its 44th year, the Gold Cup brings together elite athletes, excited fans and young hopefuls cheering on Kursinski and other competitors.

The two-story jockey club offers top-notch views overlooking the events. Jockey Club members have praised the new look and services. This is the best seat in the house!

The competition will go as follows: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday feature grand prix, jumper ring and jumper annex ring events. On Friday, be sure to check out the indoor arena.

The final Grand Prix Ring will be on Sunday. Horse owners who attend the event might be interested in the autograph session with the Grand Prix riders down on the field following the awards.
